Hi Everyone,
Welcome to my blog about my experience with ICTs (information and communications technology) and how to utilise them in teaching effectively.
This blog has been created for a course I am doing in my Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching at Central Qld University ("ICTs Learning & Design").
My experience as a high school student was typically the black board and a text book, so I think it is great that schools are now using technology in the classroom to keep students engaged. Having said that, I am well aware that I am a "digital immigrant" (Prensky 2001) and may find it challenging to keep up with my students at times.
I hope that this course will prepare me as much as possible for teaching in 'the modern world', as I call it and I look forward to the next few months.
Hi Hollie,
ReplyDeleteI too am in the same course as you. I am in the primary specialisation. We have alot in common expect for our age I'm 40 plus. I too though am a "digital immigrant" and I enjoyed reading the information you have provided in your blog. My youngest children aged 11 and 4 are "digital natives". http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/digitalnatives/category/digital-native/
I think they keep me up to speed with alot of the latest technology. I also have children in thier 20's and the technology they used was very different to what is used now. Like you I would like to be an engaging teacher who uses modern technology.
